This is the only word that would come to my mind as I struggled to pray last night.
Please.....please.....please, Lord. Let me keep this horse for a little while.
Please, take his pain away.
Please, reach in an fix what is broken in him.
Please, don't take my dreams away.
Please, have mercy on me - and him.
Please.....please.
But the end came at midnight with one last shuttering breath as my beloved horse Major, who I plucked off a racetrack in Pennsylvania, left me forever.
He was only five.
There was nothing else to be done.
I find I can hardly bear the crushing grief.
So please..... please, pray for me as I get through this.
So sad to lose part of your family. You are in my prayers!

I'm really, really sorry to hear of this....I can't imagine losing 2 in a couple weeks' time, one of them so young! Do you know exactly what it was he was suffering from? Was it unexpected? :( Terribly, terribly sorry, my friend.
ReplyDeleteIt was colic. Twisted gut colic; the kind they can only relieve with surgery; which we could not afford; and there was only a %30 chance he would have lived through it anyway.
